Showcases

In addition to her classes for adults and kids, Terry hosts showcases twice a year in San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco. These performances attract top area agents, casting directors, managers and independent film directors in search of new talent.

Beginning in November 2005, a new format was developed for showcasing Terry's students. Because classes are focused on camera technique but showcasing involves live performance, Terry now mixes both mediums -film and live performance - in the showcases. One to two minutes of the students' scenes are filmed by a professional cinematographer and made into "mini-movies" which are shown on a large screen in the performance venues, the Lyceum Theatre in Horton Plaza and the Elephant Theatre in Los Angeles.

Industry response to this unique approach has been overwhelmingly positive, allowing potential agents, casting directors and managers to see how an actor appears on screen as well as in live performance. The showcases are thematic -the November 2005 showcase, Black and White, featured scenes from black and white classic films such as The Women, Strangers on a Train, The Little Rascals, The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer, Stage Door, and All About Even.

The June 2006 showcase, entitled "Found in Translation, features scenes from foreign films such as Cries and Whispers, He Loves Me, He Loves me Not, Bread and Tulips, Iris Blonde and Big Girls Don't Cry.This innovative and successful approach to talent showcasing offers a more complete understanding of the actors' abilities in all performance media.
